Arsenal de Ferrol
The great 18th-century Enlightenment shipyard, today a naval base and the anchor of Ferrol's urban landscape.
The Arsenal was built in the 18th century to concentrate the Crown's naval activity on the estuary. Docks, workshops and walls form an enclosure that is still a city within the city.
It cannot be visited freely as an active military site, but you can walk around the shore and see it from the seafront. The Naval Museum at the gate explains the yard and Ferrol's shipbuilding history.
