Artificial lake
Lago das Pontes
A large lake born from the old lignite mine, now a place for walking and birdwatching.
The As Pontes lake fills the void left by open-cast mining. Over time water and vegetation have turned an industrial landscape into a natural space on a huge scale.
Viewpoints and paths surround it. It is an interesting place to understand the municipality's energy transition and to spend a quiet afternoon.
