Guides to plan your pilgrimage and explore Ferrolterra

Plan the English Way from Ferrol

Start with the departure point, your pilgrim credential and the stages. The route leaves the Curuxeiras port area in Ferrol and continues towards Neda, Pontedeume, Miño, Bruma and Sigüeiro before reaching Santiago de Compostela.

Before you set off

Check the weather, the official route and confirmed accommodation at the end of each stage. Carry water, broken-in footwear and an offline map. Watch for road crossings in towns, and do not assume shops or cafés will be open in rural areas.

Pilgrim credential and Compostela

Obtain your pilgrim credential before setting out and keep it throughout the walk to collect stamps. The Compostela has its own distance, purpose and stamping requirements, which you should confirm with the Pilgrim Reception Office in Santiago. See also where to obtain a credential in Ferrol.

Choose your stages

Follow the reference stages or split longer walking days according to fitness, elevation and confirmed accommodation. Indicative distances do not replace a current route map.

Starting in Ferrol

Find the Curuxeiras quay, check the pilgrim information point and plan your first walk. If arriving by train or bus, check the route through the city to the port and allow time to arrange your credential.

A separate pilgrimage: Santo André de Teixido

The Camiño Vello to Santo André de Teixido is distinct from the English Way to Santiago. Its stages and pilgrimage rules should not be confused.
