Mugardos

A fishing town known for mussels, the Palma castle and views across to the Arsenal.

Mugardos is one of the busiest mussel ports on the estuary. Rafts pattern the water and the ferry links the town with Ferrol — a short crossing that doubles as a viewpoint.

Sixteenth-century Palma castle guarded the entrance alongside San Felipe. Today it is a romantic ruin above the water, surrounded by eucalyptus and footpaths.

Getting there

On the south shore of the estuary, opposite Ferrol. Reachable from Ares or by ferry from Ferrol.
