Valdoviño is open-coast country. The long, straight Frouxeira beach is one of northern Galicia's best-known surf spots, and the lagoon behind it is a first-rate bird reserve.
Pantín, to the north, hosts a classic stop on the world surf tour. Outside competition days the municipality is quiet: hamlets, lanes and viewpoints over the Atlantic.
